Liverpool, who let us remember bought left-back Jose Enrique, have been told to forget about buying AC Milan’s respective craftsman.
Taye Taiwo will remain at the formidable San Siro and fight for his place in the red and black, according to the Nigerian’s agent Fabio Parisi. The full-back has failed to hit the heights that was expected after he moved from French runners-up Marseille in the summer, leading to speculation that he could be ready to end his short Italian adventure.
“There is no truth in this,” said Parisi.
“It is not part of Taye’s plans to leave Milan in January. The player is relaxed and has no problems with the coach.
“It’s normal that he would want to play more minutes like any player, but I repeat that there is no contact with any other club.”
The Reds have been linked with a move, as well as the surprise of the season so far Newcastle United, but it would surely be a shock to see the Merseyide club’s owners spend a considerable amount of cash on a player that could find himself on the fringes.
The Magpies, however, could be in the market to sign a left-sided defender with the fitness of Davide Santon still uncertain. We all know Italy are in need of a few quid, so if owner Mike Ashley elects to deposit some of the cash in his wallet then the Rossoneri may be tempted to let go their acquisition.
