Johnson lined up by Range Rovers

If you were a Premiership striker, would you want to swap European football for a relegation battle?

No, neither would I, but some just love a challenge don’t they.

And Blackburn will be hoping that’s the case with Fulham forward Andy Johnson, with reports today linking the former Crystal Palace man with a move to Ewood Park.

Surely that would be like taking back your new Range Rover and buying a V-reg Ford Mondeo.

There’s nothing up with an old Mondeo, don’t get me wrong, but it’s definitely a step backwards.

Although it could be apparent that the Ford has a lot of potential, and with the wealthy owner able to perhaps pimp their ride Westwood-style.

All these car metaphors working for you?

If not, than basically, Rovers financial backers Venkys have the cash to take the Lancashire outfit to a higher stature than they are at the moment.

And perhaps Johnson could be swayed by their ambitions.

Surely though, they’d have to stay in the top-flight first, something that will certainly be a stiff task.

Fulham on the other hand are safe and steady, not pushing for the top six but odds on to steer clear of the drop zone.

So would Johnson be wise to seek a new direction?

It would appear he’s contemplating such a thing, after rejecting a new deal at Craven Cottage earlier in the season.
And so often in this game we love, money talks, so if Rovers give him a decent offer, the 30 year-old could be heading up north come January.

Maybe he’ll drive up there.

Do you think Johnson would leave for Blackburn?
