Following Robin van Persie’s bothced attempt at a Panenka, it is about time that we received a reminder that there is a very fine art to taking a spot kick.

Giving the keeper the eyes, faking with the right and going with the left and stuttering the run up are all ingredients to the perfect penalty. Let’s take a look at a man who knows a thing or two about taking a penalty; Matt le Tissier. Bear in mind, also, that Le Tissier only missed one penalty throughout his whole career. Impressive.
