Young football nation making waves (Video)
Montenegro has only existed as a footballing country since 2007. They started life as the joint 199th best team in the world (bottom). Since then they have made rapid improvements and are in position to cause what could be a potentially devastating upset in the World Cup Qualifiers.
The team has come a long way since 2007 and now sit in an impressive 44th place in the FIFA rankings. More worryingly for England fans, they sit 1 point behind the three lions in 2nd place in World Cup qualifying. They have a game in hand and their next game is against San Marino. With all due respect to San Marino, this means that after 4 games, Montenegro will top the group.
Although they are yet to play England at all and there is a long way to go, it certainly remains true that Montenegro are proving to be the surprise package so far. An impressive away win in Ukraine and a draw against Poland show that Montenegro do have the quality to finish at least second.
