The last time Celtic too a trip to Barcelona, they fielded such stars as Nakamura, Boruc and Vennegoor of Hesselink…. that day they walked away with their heads held high after a 1-0 defeat.
This time around, they might be able to recreate such heroics or go one better. Barca are undoubtedly the favourites here however they have their own problems to worry about…
Sergio Busquets is suspended, while Carles Puyol, Dani Alves and Gerard Pique are injured. Celtic may well be able to rock the apple cart as they see the return of Scott Brown, James Forrest, Georgios Samaras and Kris Commons.
Celtic have take 4 points from their first 2 games after they pulled off a shock victory in Russia in the last round of fixtures, they’ll look to assert their hold on the group with another 3 points in the next game, albeit the double header their embarking on next is a huge huge ask for them.
Can they pull it off? Can Neil Lennon and his men achieve what only Chelsea have managed in this modern time? Nothing is impossible.
Let’s back the Bhoys and in true British spirit, root for the underdog.
