Baku FC hire Football Manager Novice

All of us have dreamt of it. Since we first began to play Championship manager 99/00 and more recently Football Manager. When you thought that your rise from League One to the Champions League was going unnoticed, worry no more.

21 year old, Vugar Guloglan Oglu Huseynzade, of Azerbaijan, has given us hope by being appointed manager of Azerbaijani outfit Baku FC, based purely on his Football Manager experience. As if this is not ludicrous enough, he saw off Jean-Pierre Papin to the hot seat.

Papin is a well known and experienced coach and was one time European player of the year.

Vugar Guloglan Oglu Huseynzade has been at Baku FC for a number of years but purely as an advisor. Baku FC have had a poor start to the season and after getting to the 4th qualifying round of the Europa League in 2010, the board are hopeful they will be playing European football again within three years.

Huseynzade will have a tough time though I am sure. In this ‘game’ you can not ‘Add Manager’ and increase your transfer budget. You can not simply let your assistant pick your team and you can not go on holiday for months on end. This is real life.

In view of the above it may seem I am bitter, this is because I am. It has been every young Football Manager-er’s dream to manage their club and I am no different. I wish Vugar all the best, however managing a professional football club is a completely different game to the one he has been playing.
