It hasn’t been the most productive of seasons thus far for Manchester City. Despite finding themselves second in the Premiership, the Citizens crashed out of the Champions League at the first hurdle for the second successive season.
Many have since called for Roberto Mancini to be removed from his position at the Etihad Stadium, believing that a better manager could be secured. At present, this may not be the case, but with the transfer window set to open in the coming days, the Italian could indeed bolster his position with the acquisition of a new set of players.
One of those linked with a move to the defending Premier League champions is Paris St. Germain defender Mamadou Sakho. The young Frenchman has found himself thrust down the pecking order at the Parc des Princes, with head coach Carlo Ancelotti calling upon the partnership of Alex and Thiago Silva to solidify the backline.
The powerful defender’s future in the French capital appears to be bleak, regardless of his position with the fans and it’s expected that he will be looking to leave the club sooner rather than later, despite making 10 starts this season.
Arsenal and AC Milan have been credited with an interest in the past, but it’s City that appear to have stolen a march on the duo, especially if Mancini opts to offload Joleon Lescott next month.
