Will We Ever See Neymar in England? (Video)

Pelé was a brilliant player, but in Europe, and anywhere else besides South America, it was only during World Cups and international friendly matches were his array of skills on show to watch, all before the days of the internet and YouTube of course.

Compatriot Neymar’s career could go the same way, unfortunately for those praying for their club to prise the Brazilian away from his homeland, this year’s Olympic football may be the only time we get to see Neymar on English soil.

Like legend Pelé, Neymar plays for Brazilian side Santos but is constantly being watched of scouts from Europe’s biggest clubs.

Barcelona have apparently agreed a deal with Santos to have first refusal if Neymar wishes to move, Manchester City director of football, Txiki Begiristain, reportedly travelled to South America to meet with Neymar’s agent last week, as well as Real Madrid and Chelsea throwing their hats in to the ring.

The striker, however, has quashed any talks of a move this January.

He told TV Bandeirantes: “I am happy at Santos, with my family, son, friends, so it’s not the moment to leave.

“That moment will come because I have the dream of playing in Europe since I was a kid, but that moment hasn’t come yet. Today, I don’t see myself playing for any other team but Santos.”
