Friday night’s entertainment offers us the chance to watch the Championship clash between Wolves and Blackburn, who have both been hogging the headlines of late because of their managerial vacancies.
Blackburn hastily sacked Henning Berg at the latter stages of last year after just 10 games in charge, and Stale Solbakken was relieved of managerial duties at Wolves after a poor run of form in the league and a miserable 1-0 defeat to Luton Town in the FA Cup 3rd round.
Wolves have gone onto fill the hole left by the former Koln boss by hiring Dean Saunders to take charge, but the Blackburn situation is still a mess.
As Saunders prepares his new side for his first game in charge, he will come up against, perhaps surprisingly, one of the form teams in the league. Blackburn have won 3 on the bounce under caretaker manager Gary Bowyer and have scored 8 goals in the process, whilst Wolves have lost their last 4 in all competitions.
Rovers have snapped up Todd Kane on loan from Chelsea and have made young striker Joshua King’s loan deal from Manchester United into a permanent one, and both could start against their opponents on Friday.
Whilst Wolves have not strengthened in the window as of yet, their team is firmly made up of the players that represented them in the Premier League and with the correct guidance could make a steady climb up the table.
It seems an unwritten law in our game that when a new manager comes in they spark a reaction and they get a victory in their first outing, but you get the feeling that morale within the the Molineux is at an almighty low and it will take some doing to turn that around instantly.
If you were to predict a winner you would need to look at the form guide, and there is no question who the in-form side are going into this one.
