It has been well documented that Arsenal‘s problems at the back this season, so sorry Arsenal fans if you’re reading this.
The likes of Per Mertesacker, Laurent Koscielny and Bacary Sagna have all failed to live up to the challenge of entrenching Arsenal in the top 4 as of yet, and the pathetic performances from Andre Santos have not done anyone a favour – apart from the journalists who have found it all too early to rip him apart because of his horrendous defending.
Unlike Manchester United or Chelsea, Arsenal simply do not have the firepower to make up for the shoddy goals they concede, and unlike teams such as Tottenham – who have Scott Parker and Sandro protecting their backline, and Manchester City who have the likes of Gareth Barry and Yaya Toure, Arsenal just haven’t had the personnel to deter the goals they have been conceding.
So, to brighten up the Gunners fans’ day we I have decided to look back at some of their better defenders from the club’s history. Whether it has been from the full-back positions or in more central areas, Arsenal have been blessed with some of the country’s top players when it comes to keeping the ball out of their net.
To get you in the mood, here is a short clip of Titus Bramble – the notorious horror show at the back.
