Dzeko will likely end up at Dortmund

With speculation continuously mounting suggesting that Bayern Munich are to sign Robert Lewandowski, his departure will leave Borussia Dortmund short on the frontline. Understandably, the Bundesliga champions are keen to bring in a replacement for the Pole and interest in Edin Dzeko comes as no surprise.

The powerful Manchester City striker has been heavily linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium in recent weeks, despite netting 18 times in all competitions for Roberto Mancini’s side this season.

However, the 26-year-old has now recently insinuated that he is ready to return to Germany, having spent four-and-a-half years with VfL Wolsburg, during which he impressed during his time with the Bundlesiga side.

His time in Manchester hasn’t been a disappointment, far from it in fact, but he hasn’t exactly set the world alight with his performances either. A return to Germany has been mooted for some time now and it’s looking increasingly likely for the Bosnian, especially with City confirming their interest in Edinson Cavani recently.

Furthermore, with Dortmund set to be in need of a Lewandowski replacement, Dzeko can provide that focal point for the Bundesliga side as they look to continue their impressive form next season both domestically and across the continent.
