These international breaks can be tedious business, can’t they?
This evening marks the end of the first week of this two week interlull as San Marino host England in a World Cup qualifying match. As exciting as that is it doesn’t take away from the fact that there is yet another week of boring international football before we get back to the good stuff.
It leaves me at a bit of a loss as to what to write about in such times. I could perhaps do a preview of the San Marino vs England game but writing a preview of that could be even more dull than the game itself undoubtedly will be.
International friendlies are usually dire affairs but there if there has been anything good to come out of this week then it was last night’s friendly between Brazil and Italy. Unlike most friendlies it provided some entertainment and there were some pretty decent goals, too.
The first came from Brazilian striker Fred who looks he has enjoyed one too man beers recently and Brazil raced away to a 2-0 lead before Italy came storming back. The Azzurri’s equaliser came from the boot of Mario Balotelli and it was a beauty.
It finished at 2-2 and gave those who watched it some hope that there might be some decent football being played throughout the remainder of this maddeningly dull interlull.
