The strangest goal of 2012 (Video)
It is sometimes very easy to lose faith in footballers.
The acting, the diving, the feigning of injury, the immoral behaviour off the pitch; yes, sometimes footballers are impossible to like.
My faith was restored somewhat when I stumbled across this video, however, of two Norwegian league teams who were both facing relegation and both desperate for three points in order to help them stay up.
This is a clip from a game that took place last year between Lillestrom and Braan and with a Lillestrom player injured on the floor they knocked the ball into touch. Etiquette was observed and Braan kicked the ball back to their opponents only for the return ball to bounce, quite comically, over the keeper into the net.
Following a discussion about how much of a prat the keeper was the Braan players agreed to give Lillestrom a goal and refused to defend as they kicked off following the goal.
Braan were really very sports in this situation because if it was me I would insist that if the keeper wasn’t so terrible than none of this would have happened.
But it is good to see that footballers can think rationally from time to time and be fair to one another.
