It was announced today that Jamie Carragher will be following in Gary Neville’s footsteps after choosing to retire by becoming a pundit on Sky Sports.
He announced earlier this season that at the end of the year he will be stepping away from the Liverpool team and retiring from professional football. Some thought that maybe he was a bit premature after announcing his decision to retire after playing in eleven of Liverpool’s last twelve games and still putting in good performances.
The announcement of him moving on to become a pundit though seems to have put it beyond doubt that Carragher will be hanging up his boots at the end of the year. He will be hoping when he joins up with Sky that he will be embraced in the same way that former Manchester United full back Gary Neville has. Neville has become one of the countries favourite pundits on Sky providing expert analysis and punditry becoming a staple of Sky’s Monday Night Football show.
Carragher has always been a fan favourite at Liverpool for more than a decade always putting his body on the line and many fans will be sad to see him retire but at the age of 35 he probably feels now is the right time to call it a day.
He’s known for his strong scouse accent and people will look forward to hearing his views when he does become a pundit on Sky.
Here’s a hilarious video of when Carragher called up Talksport to defend his name after he was called a bottler for choosing to retire from international football so you can get used to his accent.
