It would seem that Steve Clarke’s hopes of keeping on loan striker Romelu Lukaku on loan at the club next season are all but over as he spoke about how West Brom must prepare for life without the big Belgian in an interview with ESPN.
Lukaku struggled to break into the side at Chelsea despite arriving at the club with a lot of potential and a reputation as one of the brightest youngsters in European football. So to give him some playing time in the top flight to see if he could make it Chelsea decided to send him out on loan with West Brom the preferred destination of the striker.
The decision by Chelsea to loan him out has been justified by the players good form for the Baggies this year scoring 14 goals in 31 games. Not ony has he now got valuable Premier League experience but he has also shown what he can do and he really has impressed.
West Brom fans sing about him being ‘built like a fridge’ but for someone who is so big and strong he is deceptively pacy, add in his eye for goal and you’ve got yourself a very good striker. When he is running he is difficult to stop due to his sheer power and quick feet and he has become a thorn in the side of more than a few defences this year.
It must be said that West Brom’s lofty position in the league has a lot to do with Lukaku’s goals and at just the age of 19 Chelsea fans will be hoping that he is only going to get better. So with it looking like the striker will be heading back to Stamford Bridge here are some of his best goals for West Brom this year.
