According to Marca, Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is looking to use his knowledge of Spanish football to acquire the services of Barcelona forward Cristian Tello. Don’t believe us? Well, have a look at the report from the Express.
Tello is in fine form this season, scoring seven goals in 19 games for the Spanish giants but as the club go under a summer of changes the 21-year-old has been rumoured with an exit from Camp Nou. Tello has a reasonable £8.4m release clause in his contract which the reds would be all too happy to pay, but with the likes of Spurs also interested in capturing the Spaniard then those of you in Merseyside should hold off in getting his name on the back of your shirts.
Both sides are in desperate need of additional strength to their forward line at current. While Luis Suarez is more interested in taking lumps out of opponents’ arms, Emmanuel Adebayor is making Spurs fans’ lives a misery with his inconsistent performances.
So, if you were Tello where would you go?
Liverpool’s flexible forward berths may appeal to Tello, with the potential to interchange with Phillippe Coutinho, Daniel Sturridge and Suarez something leaving Scousers with whet whistles.
A move to White Hart Lane would see him go up against Aaron Lennon, Jermain Defoe and if he stays, Gareth Bale. Both sides will be offering the chance to qualify for Champions League football next season, but with Spurs definitely being in Europe they may have the edge.
Come on Cristian, tell us where Tello will testing his tricks next season… What?
