Chelsea forward could leave if he doesn’t get first team football

With interim boss, Rafa Benitez now vacated from his post, Lukaku returns to a manager-less Chelsea team and with the return of the special one imminent, he wants to find out what role in the squad he will be playing next year and then decide where he will be applying his trade, his big, powerful trade.

With a whole host of clubs around Europe wanting to take the big Belgian on loan next season, including West Ham & Swansea in the premier league and Dortmund have apparently made an approach after it seems that Robert Lewandowski will be joining the REAL champions of Europe, I’m looking at you, Chelsea fans. With 17 goals during his loan spell at West Brom, he has clearly impressed teams of a higher calibre and twinned with the constant tag of “flop” tied to Fernando Torres, will the season just gone be the last he played? Even though I thought he was fairly impressive last term.

With it being a World Cup year next season, Lukaku is dying to get as many minutes of top flight football under his belt and considering he is in direct competition with Christian Benteke of Aston Villa, who has probably had even more of an impressive season than Lukaku, it’s not a bad thing to want to prove your worth. The thing is, Mourinho has sung his praise regarding Lukaku in the press and if Mourinho does take over, even though nothing is still confirmed, but is yet reported like he’s already there, he will want to keep a hold of him, but I can’t see him starting that many games and being used more in a striking rotation with Demba Ba & Torres (or his replacement). I love watching Lukaku play and in my eyes, he should be the number 1 striker at a club, he proved he can handle it last year so why would he want to take a step back and be benched more instead of carrying over his momentum from the 2012-2013 season.
