Manchester United set to continue trend by making South American full-back first signing of the summer (video)
A lot has been said about Manchester United in the past few weeks as they undergo one of the biggest changes in recent fotball history, and we can expect a lot more to come, but the main thing on peoples’ minds is who David Moyes will be looking to sign in his new role.
The stories of how United need to strengthen their midfield have been done to death, with hundreds of targets being named in the media. However, the Express are reporting that the club’s first signing of the summer will be Uruguayan right-back Guillermo Valera. The 20-year-old has been on trial for the past few weeks and has supposedly done enough to impress the backroom staff at Old trafford, with an offer of £1.2m supposedly enough to complete the deal.
South American full-backs are notoriously strong going forward and in the modern game that is seen as a crucial asset. United already have Rafael Da Silva at the right-back berth, as well as his twin brother Fabio at left-back, and as well as the likes of Pablo Zabaleta (Argentina) at Manchester are carrying the reputation from the likes of Roberto Carlos and Cafu (both Brazilian) who are considered as some of the finest the game has ever seen.
