Arsenal could lose half of first choice back four as they search for silverware – statistics

Arsenal look set to lose two of their frist choice back four as they look to move to clubs who have a chance to win trophies, according to the Mirror. Bacary Sagna appears to be heading to France with either Paris Saint-Germain or Monaco whilst Laurent Koscielny has been linked with the likes of Barcelona.

While Gunners will be understandably upset that players are wanting out of their club because of their lack of silverware, but with the money available to Arsene Wenger this summer it suggests that this is the manager’s last chance to win a trophy before he is queueing up at the job centre.

So should Arsenal easily give up the fight to keep the pair?

Sagna has played 25 games this season after returning from injury and has racked up a duel percentage win of 66% which, along with Koscielny and Per Mertesacker is the highest in the backline. He has a pass accuracy of 87% and a 50% shot accuracy, whilst his 20 chances created is only surpassed in the defence by Kieran Gibbs.

Koscielny on the other hand has surprised a lot of people. Once labelled a calamity he has come on this season to prove he is one of the top centre-backs in the country and is now preferred to the club’s captain Thomas Vermaelen. In his 25 league appearances he has made an average of seven defensive actions per game, has won 83% of his attempted tackles and 64% of his headers.

So Gunners, sell up or keep hold?
