3 Manchester United players who need to leave Old Trafford this summer – statistics and videos

Manchester United may have a new manager, but their focus will stay the same. The Premier League, the Champions League, the FA CUp and the League Cup will be what David Moyes is after, and to do that he will be stripping his inherited squad of the deadwood in order to raise funds for new faces of his own. Here are three players who should be shown the Old Trafford door.

Nani

The discussions on whether the Portuguese winger should be shown the door have been done to death, and although the answer is more often than not that he should leave, it is not as easy as that. United will have to find a club to take him off their hands, and at the right price.

The 26-year-old played just 11 games last season, creating 11 chances and sculpting a shot accuracy of 31%. With Wilfried Zaha coming into the club, as well as Antonio Valencia, Danny Welbeck, Wayne Rooney, Shinji Kagawa, Nick Powell and Ashley Young all able to play out wide then his days are surely numbered.

Ashley Young

The latter is my next choice. Ashley Young is a player that infuriates many because of his tendencies to go down easily, possess a dismal final ball and often finding himself tripping over his own feet. As mentioned above, the competition on the wings is fierce at Old Trafford and it may be wise to get rid while he still has some sell-on value.

Young, 27, played 19 league games last season and claimed just three assists. He had a shot accuracy of 48%, a pass accuracy of 83% and made two defensive actions on average per game.

Anderson

The Brazilian has had his chance to prove his worth at Old Trafford. The 25-year-old has failed miserably at United since his move from Porto in 2006 and offers almost nothing to their squad. With whispers of Moyes looking at signing two or three central midfielders to bolster their Paul Scholes-less midriff Anderson’s agent will probably already be looking for a new club for his client.

He played 17 games this Premier League campaign and managed to get himself on the scoresheet once. He created 13 chances, accumulated a shot accuracy of 50% and a pass accuracy of 86%.
