After his loan deal in Mallorca came to an end when the season finished, Alan Hutton is looking to secure a permanent switch to the La Liga from Aston Villa if he’s not needed in England.
Now I must admit, I haven’t watched any of Alan Hutton’s performances for Mallorca this season, so I cannot really comment, but I remember him during his time at both Tottenham & Villa for being woeful. He could of vastly improved during his loan spell, but not that much to be a staring full-back in La Liga, surely!?
He has come out and said that his poor form when with his parent club and former team were down to him just having not played enough and claims his stint in Spain has made him a better player and rekindled his love for the game. Normally I would be happy for a player to still love the game whilst playing it, instead of seeming to loathe the 90 minutes on a weekend and only continuing playing due to their paycheques, but I can’t do it for Hutton, his style of play suggests he could be a nasty piece of work and therefore I don’t really like him. Don’t get me wrong, I blooming well love a combative player but within reason, although I have a soft spot for Mark van Bommel.
In his defence, I commend his attitude in the press after coming and saying he will stay at Villa Park and play whenever needed and run out the final year of his contract if Paul Lambert sees the defender apart of Aston Villa’s plans next year. He has also said that he wouldn’t like a loan deal again due to stress on his family and I think that’s brilliant that a British player WANTS to play abroad, I can’t see why more players don’t do it, sometimes an English players style of play would suit another European clubs style of play, like Joe Cole would of been perfect on the continent. I’m not saying Hutton is perfect for Spanish football but the 28 year old just wants to play as much football as he can and get the whole spectrum of the footballing world, no matter the team or league he’s playing for, I salute you, Alan Hutton.
