Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is ready to continue his reshaping of the club with a bid for trio Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Christian Atsu and Luis Alberto, according to the Mirror. The Reds have finally flogged big money failure Andy Carroll to West Ham in a deal said to be worth around £17.5m and the Irish gaffer is ready to put the funds to good use with his trio of targets. So let’s have a look at them individually.
First up is a player expected to make big waves in European football and if he is to do that in Merseyside then it will cost them £23m, or there abouts, in the shape of Mkhitaryan. They will have to fend off interest from Serie A champions Juventus and Ligue 1 holders Paris Saint-Germain but reports from his homeland reported that Shakhtar Donetsk have allowed Liverpool to start discussions.
Next up is Christian Atsu, who Rodgers supposedly wanted to recruit last summer before Porto stuck a huge valuation on his head but after the winger refused to sign a new contract at the Portuguese club he has been frozen out. A deal of just £3m may be enough to ensure they don’t lose him for nothing when his deal runs out next summer.
Third and finally Alberto, who has apparently returned from his holiday in order to finalise a deal with Liverpool. The 20-year-old has spent time on loan to Barcelona’s B side and Sevilla are happy to let him go for around the £5m mark.
Should they transpire, the trio will join Kolo Toure and Iago Aspas as new signings at Anfield this summer.
