Manchester United in £90m swap deal for Ronaldo, Tottenham to bid £20m plus player for striker and Kone wants Premier League move – round up

The Daily Star are reporting that Manchester United boss David Moyes is ready to use striker Wayne Rooney in part of a £90m deal with Real Madrid to lure former old Trafford favourite Cristiano Ronaldo back to Manchester. A deal to get the mouth watering, I think you would agree  – unless you are a fan of a Premier League club who he will be going up against.

Rooney, rated at £30m, will be used in a swap for £60m Ronaldo as Carlo Ancelotti looks to re-shuffle his inherited pack in the Spanish capital and Moyes continues his search for his big money signing.

Another topflight frontman linked with a move away from his club is Aston Villa’s Christian Benteke, who the same paper are reporting will be the subject of a £20m bid from Tottenham in a deal which could well see Emmanuel Adebayor head north to the Midlands.

The Togolese target-man flopped again last season and has frustrated fans at White Hart Lane but Paul Lambert has supposedly seen enough to suggest he could replace some of the 19 goals that the Belgian will be taking with him.

Last up in our round up is a report from the Sun which reveals Wigan’s 13-goal frontman Arouna Kone has pledged a come and get me plea to Everton, Liverpool and Crystal Palace, all of whom have been linked. The 29-year-old impressed immensely last season despite the Latics’ relegation and has told of his intentions for next year.

He said: “You always have ambitions as a footballer, and I don’t intend to play in the English second division. Wigan have gone down, which is a real shame. It’s up to them to set out their stance about my situation. I aim to play for one of the best clubs in England, and I hope I will get the chance.”

He also suggested that contact had been made regarding a move to Selhurst Park.

“I’ve had plenty of approaches. I can’t reveal the names of the clubs. But Crystal Palace have gone up, and from the moment a club is in the Premier League that is good for me. I’m under contract with Wigan for two more years. But if there is an offer that is good for both me and Wigan I will seek to leave.”
