What Liverpool Would Be Getting Should They Sign This Starlet In January – The Statistics

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is a fan of youth in his side, we know that. It’s been rammed down our throats since he hit our screens with Swansea that the Irishman enjoys his football to be played at a high tempo and with slick passes. As much as I am a fan of sexy football, I am not a fan of the media throwing it in my face at every opportunity, and I’m an Arsenal fan! Anywhom, it looks as though the Reds will be pursuing their chase for Derby starlet Will Hughes in January, if the Metro are to be believed, so I thought I would run through the statistics for you Scousers.

The 18-year-old has been slapped with the label of the English Lionel Messi, which, in my opinion is a huge burden – no matter how light-heartedly it’s meant.

He is a brilliant player, however, and has been Derby’s driving force for the last year or so. So far this season he has made five appearances, but is yet to score. His weaving displays from the centre of midfield is lovely to watch, and he is much keener to slide a ball behind the defence to a team-mate than to have a long range shot at goal, like typical English midfielders.

He has completed 177/209 attempted passes, completed five dribbles and made nine key passes so far this season. He has totalled 209 passes, attempted five crosses – three of which were accurate – and completed 12 of his 15 attempted long balls.

Hughes has also won 15 tackles, nine clearances and made 12 fouls.

Whether he is up to making the jump into the Premier League is a whole different debate which I will leave up to you, but he’s a cracking little player for the Rams.
