Scouting Report: Manchester City Target Striker With Three Goals In Five Games For His Country

With Sergio Aguero, Alvaro Negredo and Edin Dzeko to choose from to lead his line, you’d have thought that Manuel Pellegrini would have enough firepower to choose from. However, talkSPORT are reporting that Udinese striker Piotr Zielinski is catching the Chilean’s eye. But who is he?

Zielinski is a 19-year-old Polish international who has represented his country right from the U15 squad to the senior side, where he has now scored three goals in five games. An impressive feat.

His hard work has not gone unnoticed by his manager at club level, Francesco Guidollin, and he gave the youngster his chance in Serie A last season, albeit at a staggered rate.

Last season the forward made nine appearances, five of which he came on from the bench, and the other four he was hooked off, so he failed to complete a 90 minute game. He managed three shots in his allocated game time and hit the target with two of those, while he also created six chances for his Udinese colleagues.

Interestingly, in all nine of his appearances last season, Udinese won all nine.

He has so far played in two of the club’s three opening games, both as a substitute, and offered very little.

Zielinski is slight of frame and utilises his pace to get the better of defenders, and if he was to arrive at City he would be likened to Aguero rather than the Dzeko type. It is likely that he’d take time to progress through the youth ranks should the move go through.
