Colombian could be the answer to Premier League teams problems

With a host of teams in the Premier League looking for a new striker as an alternative for their current options, I think I have identified a candidate to suit all comers.

The man I have earmarked, if you’re wondering, is Jackson Martinez. The Colombian forward is the strike partner of Radamel Falcao at international level and recently has started to hold his weight alongside his fellow countrymen, which isn’t the easiest of tasks considering Falcao cannot be human – he could be bionic and none of us would be any the wiser. With thirty-seven goals in just under fifty matches for Porto, Martinez seems to be doing the absolute business for the Portuguese team since joining last season, but I think the Colombian will be looking to make the step up to the highest level of domestic football. And with a goal against Atletico Madrid the other night in the Champions League, he is showing glimpses of how prowess on the European stage, which is essentially just a cattle market.

It seems a number of teams may need to add a striker to their ranks in January, with Liverpool getting ready to brace themselves for another wave of bids and enquiries for Luis Suarez. If they do inevitably sell-up and cash in on the Uruguayan before he implodes again or something, I can’t see a better candidate to replace him than Martinez.

Chelsea are also struggling to find a definitive striker to start with, especially when Demba Ba seems to have gone AWOL, Fernando Torres has continued with his rich run of poor form and Samuel Eto’o is a thirty-three year old striker who has never played in the Premier League before. Yet manages to get in ahead of the other two.

The other suitors include Manchester United and Arsenal, with the latter having only one first-team quality striker on the books and with a physio like the Arsenal one, who seems to possess the Vulcan death-grip, it won’t be long until he suffers a muscle injury and Manchester United seeming to want the strengthen every position except the one that does need genuine attention. I suspect Jackson will be apart of the Premier League sooner rather than later, I can’t wait to see him.
