Arsenal need a forward, so here are three reasons why their next signing should be Torino frontman Alessio Cerci.
1) versatile
The Italian can play all over the pitch. He is an attacking player with experience on both flanks, the slot behind the striker and the centre-forward role, which he has been playing so far this season. He has also played in right midfield, operating as a wide midfielder rather than a winger.
The Torino man would provide cover for Theo Walcott, Santi Cazorla and Olivier Giroud, both in the creative and goal scoring markets.
2) prime
The 26-year-old is finally coming to fruition. He has so far scored six goals in his seven Serie A games and created four chances. He has won 57% of his chances and also hit the target with 71% of his shots, which is pretty impressive for a striker.
Cerci is a player in fine form, and we will have to wait and see if the form continues, but if it does, don’t be surprised if he’s plying his trade in the Champions League sooner rather than later.
3) injury free
He has had his injury problems in the past – multiple muscle damage, knee problems and even a broken hand, but he seems to be on a run of good health right now. Touch wood.
