A North London XI – Combining The Best Of Arsenal And Tottenham
If asked to choose an all north London 11 – players from only Arsenal and Tottenham – this is what my side would look like in a 4-2-3-1 formation.
GK – Hugo Lloris – Spurs
The Frenchman nicks it over the Gunners’ Poland international for me. Lloris sits on the edge of his box and cuts out any potential danger.
RB – Bacary Sagna – Arsenal
For me Sagna is more reliable than Spurs’ Kyle Walker and takes our right-back spot.
CB – Per Mertesacker – Arsenal
The giant German has been brilliant for the last season and has proved one of the most domineering defenders in the Premier League.
CB – Jan Vertonghen – Spurs
Although the Spurs defence has been a bit dodgy of late, the big Belgian is generally a fine defender. He partners Mertesacker in our defence.
LB – Nacho Monreal – Arsenal
The Spaniard has quietly gone about his business since signing for the Gunners and is turning into a brilliant acquisition.
DMC – Paulinho – Spurs
The Brazilian has played remarkable since he completed his switch in the summer. He has scored once and created 10 chances so far in seven games while completing 86% of his passes.
DMC – Aaron Ramsey – Arsenal
the Wales international is on fire this season, scoring eight goals in 11 games. No question that he deserves his spot.
RM – Erik Lamela – Spurs
Although the former Roma winger hasn’t clicked yet in a Spurs shirt, I have big hopes for him. Able to play with either foot on either foot, our three attacking players will interchange at will.
CAM – Christian Eriksen – Spurs
Which brings us onto our Danish talent Eriksen. The little playmaker has sculpted seven chances this season in four games.
LM – Mesut Ozil – Arsenal
Possibly the greatest creative player in world football, Ozil has set the English topflight alight since his deadline day move. With 11 chances created in four games, as well as a goal in the Champions League, Ozil will attack with flexibility and a huge amount of freedom.
ST – Olivier Giroud
Despite being written off by a lot of critics, the France international has struck four league goals in seven games and created 12 opportunities for his colleagues.
