What Is Arsenal’s Strongest XI?

Arsenal currently sit top of the Premier League despite a splurt of injuries. Let’s take a look at what I consider their best 11.

Wojciech Szczesny – GK

The Poland international has come under some stick over the last six months or so but he has had a bright start to this season. By far the Gunners’ best between the sticks.

Bacary Sagna – RB

Although he has covered at centre-back on occasions this season, Sagna is still the best option at right-back for me.

Per Mertesacker – CB

The giant German is an incredible defender. He has the power, the dominance in the air and the technique with the ball at his feet to match any midfielder.

Laurent Koscielny – CB

A shaky start to the season but it seems as though the Frenchman has calmed down a bit now. He will be hoping to rekindle his form from the back end of last season.

Kieran Gibbs – LB

The young Englishman gets my vote over Nacho Monreal at the moment because of his composure on the ball.

Mathieu Flamini – CM

What a shrewd signing this turned out to be from Arsene Wenger. He has instilled a sense of coolness throughout the team.

Aaron Ramsey – CM

The Welshman is on fire this season. Not only are his goals a huge factor, but his all round performances have looked much better.

Theo Walcott – RM

Although injured right now, the speed and composure in front of goal earn Walcott a place in my side.

Mesut Ozil – CAM

What can I say about the German that hasn’t already been said? One of the best players on the planet, in my eyes.

Santi Cazorla – LM

The Spaniard has hardly features this season because of injury and will be like a new signing when he is back in the team.

Olivier Giroud – ST

The Frenchman has proved many wrong with his goal scoring this term and is the Gunners’ only real option up top.
