3 Players Arsenal Should Look To Send On Loan In January

Although the Arsenal squad didn’t strengthen in numbers over the summer, they signed a quality player in Mesut Ozil. The core Arsenal squad still has a lot of youth and the jury is out as to whether these players can make the step up to becoming seasoned Arsenal starters. There are also some more senior members of the squad being left out by Wenger at the moment. Here are 3 players I believe Arsene Wenger should look to loan out this January:

 1) Yaya Sanogo

The French striker, who is only 20, scored 11 goals in 24 appearances for previous club Auxerre last season, before being snapped up by Arsene Wenger in July 2013.

A prolific record, albeit in the French lower leagues, but impressive for somebody of his age all the same.

Sanogo would benefit from a loan spell in the Championship and ideally at one of the better footballing sides. This would continue his development, give him game time and allow him to have experience of the physical side of the English game.

 2) Ryo Miyaichi

Ryo Miyaichi was signed in January 2011 and the Japanese striker has already benefitted from loan spells at Feyenoord and Bolton. Earning rave reviews at both clubs and being dubbed ‘Ryodinho’ at Feyenoord after impressing in performances.

The striker still only 20, has a lot of time to develop and although he has made a couple of substitute appearances for the Arsenal senior team this season, he’s unlikely to really contest Giroud yet.

A Premier League loan stint would the suit the Japanese forward’s development.

3) Thomas Vermaelen

Although Vermaelen is club captain, the defender has struggled for action so far this season because of injury. Vermaelen, one of Arsenals more senior players, needs game time to ensure he is in with a shout of a call up for the Belgium World Cup squad.

Wenger may grant the wish of more playing time with the option a loan exit for the Belgian defender.
