Why Manchester City Need To Reject £55m Advances From Real Madrid For Striker

Sergio Aguero stamped his name in the Premier League history when his last gasp winner snatched the league title from under Manchester United’s noses and had Manchester City singing from the rooftop. While the commentary still sends tingles down the spines of most, the Metro recently reported that the Argentina international was a target for La Liga giants Real Madrid. But here is my reasoning as to why Manuel Pellegrini can’t let him go, not even for the £55m that is being suggested.

When the little South American forward signed for City back in 2011, few could have envisaged the sort of impact that he would have on the club. He added a new depth into the attack with his nippy play and close footwork, and he sparked a sublime partnership with compatriot Carlos Tevez.

Last season was a difficult one for Aguero as a result of injury, but he still racked up 12 goals in the 30 appearances (nine full games) and created 39 chances for his colleagues.

His creativity compliments the other inventive players in the City attack – the likes of David Silva, Samir Nasri and Yaya Toure – and allows other players to drive into the gaps he leaves.

This season, under new management, Aguero has found his mojo. The 25-year-old has so far scored six goals in seven games, made 11 key passes and displayed his efficiency with his 80% shot accuracy.

His footwork compliments Alvaro Negredo’s strength and his eye for goal means Jesus Navas and Silvaknow where he is at all time. Segio Agueros don’t come around very often and he would be incredibly difficult to replace.
