3 Reasons Liverpool Fans Shouldn’t Be Worried Following 2-2 Draw Against Newcastle
With the scores level at half time at St James Park and Newcastle down to 10 men, Liverpool must have been rubbing their hands together at the opportunity presented to them – the chance to enhance their Premier League title shot and open up a gap between themselves and the chasing pack.
Full time came and it wasn’t to be for Liverpool, who had to make do with a point and a 2-2 score line with the Magpies.
I believe there is nothing for Liverpool fans to worry about and here are 3 reasons why:
1) Sturridge and Suarez
The ‘S.A.S’ as the pair are known by Liverpool fans were still as sharp and prolific as ever at St James Park. It was Suarez who was fouled for the penalty that Steven Gerrard converted and it was, yes you guessed it, Sturridge who scored the other with a close range diving header, with Suarez the provider.
Suarez was extremely unlucky not to score himself striking the bar from a volley and almost claiming all 3 points for Liverpool with the last kick of the game, from a freekick, which Newcastle keeper, Krul smartly saved.
On another day, had luck been on there side, these two strikers would have had 3 or 4 between them and there’s certainly a lot more goals to come from them both. Exciting times for Liverpool fans.
2) The Return of Philippe Coutinho
The playmaker from Brazil was in inspirational form before suffering a shoulder injury against Swansea. Although still yet a few weeks away from a return to the side, it’ll be worth the wait when he does.
Coutinho will for sure be creating chances for others, as well as chipping in goals himself. The return of the Brazilian will be a great boost in Liverpool’s quest for the EPL title.
3) Steven Gerrard’s Title Aspiration
Steven Gerrard is a footballer who has won most things at Liverpool, including the Champions League, but there is one big trophy which is missing: the Premier League title.
Gerrard, 33, knows he won’t be able to play on forever and may see this campaign, as his biggest opportunity yet to add the Premier League honours to his already impressive list of trophies.
The Liverpool skipper is a winner and I wouldn’t bet against Gerrard leading the team onto silverware in the league.
