Arsenal currently sit top of the Premier League with a two point gap. Next in line is fellow Londoners Chelsea, who are level on points with Liverpool. With the Daily Star reporting that the Gunners and Brendan Rodgers side are both ready to battle it out for AC Milan forward Stephan El Shaarawy we take a closer look at the 20-year-old.
Although he has missed a large chunk of this season already, last season he was one of the most exciting youngsters in European football. He played 37/38 of Milan’s league games and scored 16 goals. He also carved 56 opportunities for his colleagues and completed 84% of his passes, while hitting the target with 66% of his shots.
While the forward isn’t the most skilful – he won just 44/163 of his attempted take ons – he possesses the pace and the raw strength to trouble most established defenders.
He has the height, the prowess in the air and the positional sense to make opponents look ridiculous and generally keeps things ticking for the San Siro side.
Whether Liverpool or Arsenal get their grubby mitts on the Italy international is a different story, but what I do know is that he’s an exceptional player.
