5 players Arsenal should sign in January

We are entering that period in time when we can properly analyse the impact of signings made in the summer but also look forward to who clubs will try and sign in January. There is always speculation, it just isn’t football without rumours, and plenty have been flying around at Arsenal. It started out with Marco Reus, Ilkay Gundogan and Lars Bender being lined up for potential moves in January but those rumours quickly dissipated. However, the Marco Reus rumour stuck around for a little while longer. Jackson Martinez, Miroslave Klose, Karim Benzema and Robert Lewandowski have also been in the news recently with Arsenal said to be interested. Anyway who should Arsenal try and sign?

1. Marco Reus

Why not? Why not go for him? He’s not a striker per say which means the in-form Olivier Giroud will keep his place, but he can play up top if needs be. That’s the best thing about him, he can literally play anywhere across the front line. He will cost upwards of £40 million but he will definitely bring depth and quality with him. Worth every penny.

2. Jesus Gamez

The Malaga man has been incredibly consistent for his club over the years he’s been with club. He’s played 232 games for the Malaga first team in all competitions since the 2005/2006 season, and with Sagna’s future in some doubt and the ability of Carl Jenkinson getting called into question, the need for an experienced right back increases. He’s cheap, also.

3. Kyriakos Papadopoulos

The Greek international’s future has been subject to much speculation recently but one thing’s for sure, Arsenal could do with a player like him. Young but incredibly gifted player. With Thomas Vermaelen possibly heading for the exit door, then the arrival of this player will be needed.

4. Adrien Rabiot

Our midfield is well stocked but there is always room for improvement. Rabiot is a player that could be on his way out of PSG but only because he fears the amount of game time he’ll receive if he sticks around. His game time may well be limited at Arsenal but with injuries common at the Gunners, his first team opportunities may be more frequent than what he’ll receive at PSG.

5. Max Kruse

Although I stated earlier that Olivier Giroud should keep his place in the Arsenal starting line up, I didn’t say that he didn’t need competition. Max Kruse could be the perfect to player to provide competition. Having already scored 5 goals and 5 assists in 10 games this season, it’s fair to say that he’s in a good bit of form. £10 million could land him as well.
