Why Arsenal fans miss Cesc Fabregas

The love triangle between Fabregas, Arsenal and Barcelona is more famous than any in the history of football. Well, for Arsenal fans anyway.

Boy leaves childhood club, boy grows to love new team, boy has a chance to return to his first love, boy does exactly that, boy still has affection for his old club. Something like that. The Spaniard has dropped many hints that he still holds Arsenal dear to his heart and, in an interview he conducted yesterday with the Guardian, it’s clear that his love for Arsenal goes beyond what we think we know.

He even excited fans further by saying he would like to return to the Gunners one day. However, Cesc didn’t say whether or not he’d return to play football or be a coach. He stated that the north London club will always have their doors open for him and he goes onto praise the Gunners for their treatment of ex-players. He cites Dennis Bergkamp earning his coaching badges as an example of what he means.

Cesc Fabregas spent eight glorious years at Arsenal but the attraction of Barcelona proved too much for Arsenal to compete with. The Spaniard already has eight assists this season and a goal in La Liga. The previous season, he scored 11 goals and assisted 14 which are some brilliant statistics. He managed nine goals and 10 assists in his debut season.

In 68 games, he’s scored 21 goals and assisted 32 for the Catalan club in La Liga alone. That comes off the back of 212 appearances for Arsenal in the Premier League, in which he scored 35 goals and assisted an incredible 72.
