We are now nine games into the Premier League, so here are 10 players who have impressed me so far from teams that currently sit outside the top four in the table.
An honourable mention goes to Ross Barkley of Everton, who has been fantastic this season.
1) Leighton Baines – Everton
The former Wigan left-back is excelling in the Everton side and after creating 116 chances last season he has created 11 this time round and scored two.
2) Christian Benteke – Aston Villa
It can only be a matter of time before one of the big boys in the league snap him up. Four goals in seven games this season has seen him draw the plaudits once again.
3) Robbie Brady – Hull
The winger has been crucial to how Hull have set up this season. The former United man offers both speed and delivery down the flank and he has also scored three goals this term.
4) Sergio Aguero – Manchester City
With City sitting in seventh, Aguero gets a spot in my top 10. One of the most gifted forwards in world football, the Argentine has scored seven goals in eight games this season.
5) Wayne Rooney – Manchester United
Same as above – as united are currently placed in eighth place, Rooney is in our 10. He has four goals in eight games this term.
6) Jonjo Shlevey – Swansea
Shelvey may not be the typical Swansea player, but he adds the bite to the silky side and is allowed to show off his huge range of passing ability.
7) Jordan Mutch – Cardiff
The 21-year-old has scored twice in his eight games this season and generally impressed with his direct approach in games.
8) Saido Berahino – West Brom
With five goals in six games in all competitions, the England U21 star is making people sit up and take notice.
9) Curtis Davies – Hull
Hull are one of the most solid teams in the country and there is one man at the centre of that – Curtis Davies. The experienced centre-back has already made 92 clearances this season in nine games.
10) Adnan Januzaj – Manchester United
The man that fuelled the country’s debate as to whether or not foreign players should be allowed to play for England, Januazaj has scored twice in five games.
