Why Players Should Think Twice Before Moving To Paris Saint-Germain

In yet another story of a mediocre club being bought by billionaires, Paris St Germain has been no stranger to money in the past few years. Some of the most talented players in the world have decided to call the city of lights their home recently, even David Beckham got in on the action before retiring. But, there is just something about PSG that I just can’t wrap my head around. I feel like these superstars that decide to play there are forgotten, going to a league that isn’t quite as popular as all of the others. Yes, they qualify for the Champions League, but even there, they’re up against giants, and they can’t really compete.

The ranks at PSG is flooded with talent – Zlatan Ibrahimavic, Edison Cavani, Thiago Silva, Javier Pastore, Ezequiel Lavezzi, and the list goes on. I honestly feel, though, that these players end up being forgotten once signing for the French club. This summer, the Cavani saga kept everybody on their toes. Where would he go? He was an exceptional talent at Napoli, I was so excited to see where he would go next.

He ended up at PSG, and has anyone heard much from him lately? Ligue 1 isn’t as popular as La Liga or The English Premier League, and they don’t even really dominate in that league. His talents are being wasted – he had so much potential, he would have shone so bright at a club like Real Madrid or Chelsea, but instead, we watch him once every few weeks in the Champions league, until PSG get eliminated of course.

I have nothing against PSG, maybe it will just take a few years before they can really establish themselves as a major club, but until then I really don’t have an interest in going to find these players in order to be able to watch them play.
