In quite an interesting turn of events, Italian giants Juventus have been knocked out of the Champions League by Turkish side Galatasaray on a freezing day in Turkey. The match was meant to be played at the normal time last night, but was postponed due to heavy snow falling in Turkey.
After a roller coaster ride of a few games, Chelsea were handed yet another embarrassing defeat this past weekend, this time at the hands of Stoke City. The loss, coupled with a great Liverpool win over West Ham have knocked the Blues out of second place and back into third in the Premier League table. Chelsea started off well, with a great goal from Andre Schurrle in the 9th minute – in fact, Schurrle had a pretty good performance, scoring both goals for Chelsea, the second in the 53rd minute.
With the loss from Juventus yesterday, sending the Italian club out of the Champions League, it seems as if the remaining Italian clubs are fighting for their survival as well today in the last match day. AC Milan are playing Ajax, both clubs are only separated by one point in group h. While Napoli are playing Arsenal, Napoli are currently tied with Boruissa Dortmund in the middle of the table on 9 points. All matches are being played in Italy however, so both clubs have home field advantage.

With the 2014 World Cup draw just around the corner, this Friday in Brazil, it’s time to really start counting down the days until the competition starts next summer. Four years has gone by so quickly, it seems like we were just in South Africa watching Spain lift the trophy after the final match. But alas, it’s time again, all the qualified countries have been placed into their respective pots and on Friday we will know the groups for the group stages of the competition.
This week I’m going to profile Sunderland forward Jozy Altidore,who scored a cracking goal against Chelsea last night in a crucial Premier League match. Unfortunately for Sunderland, they lost the game and are sitting in last place in the table, but they put up a good fight against Jose Mourinho’s men.
After conceding a rather embarrassing goal a mere 14 seconds into last Sunday’s match against Southampton, Chelsea actually rallied themselves to quite a thrilling 3-1 victory over the saints. Once again, after quite a rocky start, when it seemed all but lost, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho’s unbeaten record at Stamford Bridge will live to see another day.
I’m sure most people, with the exception of Arsenal fans of course, are a little sceptical about the fact that the gunners have had such a comfortable lead in the Premier League table for so long now. When is it going to end? Or are they actually going to win the Premier League title this year?
