Arsenal have been linked with Manchester City forward Edin Dzeko by the Daily Mirror, so here are three reasons why I feel the Bosnian should definitely be a target for Arsene Wenger.
1) target man
Much like Giroud, Dzeko is a player who thrives in having balls delivered to him. However while Giroud is spinning off players and making darting runs, Dzeko is happy to play with his back to goal and receive the ball to feet from distance.
He’s not the most willing of players in terms of defending, but he has the physical presence, the intelligence off the ball and the ability to hurt teams from numerous angles to lead the line efficiently.
2) incentives to do well
Bosnia qualified for their first ever World Cup next year and Dzeko is their main man. Although he’s pretty much guaranteed a spot in the side, he needs to be playing regular football to be on top of his game, something which he isn’t getting at City.
A fresh start could potentially offer him a new platform to operate on and fine-tune his game before the summer, and he could even hit some form at the same time.
3) goal-gobbler
Dzeko is a natural in front of goal. He finished as City’s top scorer last season, he’s scored for every club he’s even been at, and he was also rewarded with the Bundesliga top scorer accolade back in 2008/09 when at Wolfsburg.
