Mention the name Nicklas Bentdner around the country and you’ll probably get a range of jokes in reply. It’s a sad state of affairs for the Danish striker, but it doesn’t help when you shout your mouth off about what a talent you are. But whatever you think of him as a player, right now in this moment of time Arsenal need his presence, not least because he seems the only viable option for the Gunners in terms of replacing Olivier Giroud.
The Frenchman is looking tired right now, and with both Theo Walcott and Yaya Sanogo injured Arsene Wenger doesn’t have much to choose from.
I expect the north London club to pick up another forward in January, but should they also keep hold of Bendtner?
Overall, the Dane’s scoring record isn’t too bad – he has scored 45 goals in 161 appearances in all competitions, which is a ratio of a goal every 3.5 appearances.
He is a strong player who adds some quality in the air, and although he’s not the most composed player in the world he opens up space for his team-mates.
Bendtner can play with his back to goal, he has decent movement and he’s still only 25.
It’s not ideal, but he fills a gap when needed and could have a huge difference on the freshness of Giroud.
Gooners, stay or go?
