Chelsea Handed Blow As Striker Target Snubs Interest – Player Report

When Mario Balotelli left Manchester City to join AC Milan last year, he took a little piece of our hearts with him. The characteristic Italian was leaving our shores having given us a taste into his bizarre world, and we loved it. Although his tantrums on the pitch caused frustration for some, it was his quirky outlook on life that has us all enchanted by him, and when there were rumours about him returning to the Premier League, this time with Chelsea, we all perked up like little meerkats. Now, however, it seems as though he will be staying put at the San Siro, according to the Daily Star.

He has had a bright year in the Italian capital and it seems as though he he finally settled in himself. Last season he scored 12 goals in 13 games and looked like he was in the form of his life. Although a few of his goals were penalties, his desire was there, his hunger was there and most importantly the petulant squabbles looked as though they had disappeared.

This season he has scored three in seven appearances in the league, and another in the Champions League, as well as claiming two assists.

On paper Balotelli is exactly what Chelsea need to come in and reinforce their frontline. He’s a big, strong powerful forward who has quick feet and is willing to spearhead the attack, much like how Didier Drogba used to, just a little bit more dramatically.

He’s also worked with Mourinho, but as it stands their attention will have to be focused elsewhere.
