Analysing Arsenal’s Bright Start To The Season – Ramsey’s Form & Giroud’s Goals

Ahead of the start of the Premier League season, few had Arsenal down as real contenders to lift the trophy. Then, Arsene Wenger pulled a rabbit out of the hat with Mesut Ozil’s arrival from Real Madrid, and things changed at the Emirates. With the Germany international’s arrival came a belief that had been absent at the Emirates for so many years, and they now sit top of the Premier League and the Champions League group. After 13 league games of the season, I thought I would analyse their good start to the season.

Highlight:

There have been loads – Per Mertesacker’s form, Olivier Giroud’s goal tally, Ozil’s quick impact. For me, the biggest – apart from the fact they sit on top of both leagues – is Aaron Ramsey’s displays.

The Wales international has scored 11 goals so far, the same amount as his previous five seasons combined.

Low point:

After all the fine performances that Laurent Koscielny put in last season, his start to the season has been questionable.

Also, the fact that Wenger didn’t land a striker in the summer and the fact they have had to call upon Nicklas Bendtner when Giroud has looked tired.

The loss to Manchester United would’ve hurt, as well.

Standout player:

As mentioned, I think Ramsey has been the diamond in a glistening Arsenal squad. The Gunners have impressed me from goalkeeper to striker and you could argue that they have all been standout.

Flop:

For me, probably Koscielny, although Bendtner has offered next to nothing

Prediction:

This could very well be the season that Arsenal end their trophy-less run.
