With Arsenal sitting pretty at the top of the Premier League you’d think that they were sorted for the season in terms of personnel, but it’s a long, gruelling season and they will need to strengthen in January to keep their players fresh. One man who has been linked with a move to north London is Real Sociedad’s Antoine Griezmann, but who is he and where would he fit into the club?
The Frenchman has been with the Spanish club for the entirety of his career so it’s difficult for me to envisage him sporting another club’s shirt, but should he jump ship to Arsenal then they will be getting a very able player.
Primarily a left winger, Griezmann would be going up against Santi Cazorla for a place in the side, though Arsene Wenger could push Mesut Ozil to the right and tuck Cazorla in the middle. The three places behind the striker are flexible positions at the Emirates and we often see players roam from them.
This season we have already seen Griezmann score nine La Liga goals from the 13 games he’s played, which for a winger is outstanding. He’s also made 13 key passes, hit the target with 21 of his 34 shots and even chipped in with 22 tackles.
He’s a quick player who is blessed with skill and technique and he’s still only 22, so if Arsenal were to swoop for him then he’d have time to mature into something special.
