Manchester United may have eventually beaten Hull in the early kick off yesterday, but it wasn’t without drama. Steve Bruce’s men went 2-0 up in 13 minutes and looked to be on for a shock result, but a sterling Wayne Rooney performance pulled United over the line. The forward’s team-mates, on the whole, let the fans down though, so here are three players that David Moyes should think about dropping for Saturday’s trip to Norwich for different reasons.
1) Ashley Young
The winger was the weakest link in the side in my opinion and was rightly hooked for Michael Carrick as David Moyes looked to reshuffle his pack going into the latter stages of the game.
Young produced six crosses, five of which failed to meet a United head, and he lost all five of his headed duels. He looked out of sorts at the KC Stadium, which is a shame considering his recent form.
2) Danny Welbeck
The forward didn’t do anything wrong, or at least nothing standout, but his impact on games tend to dip in and out. For long periods of the tie Welbeck was nowhere to be seen and it forced Rooney to try and work some space for himself.
3) Darren Fletcher
It’s touching that the Scot is making his way back into the side, but it needs to be done slowly, in my eyes. He’s not the most energetic player in the world but he can pick a pass, and for me he should be rested against Norwich, only to be used should they need to control the game from the middle.
He was rightly substituted after the hour mark as United chased the game.
United fans, do you agree?
