THREE Things We Learned From Arsenal’s 2-0 Win Over Cardiff

Arsenal left it late to snatch a win at home to Cardiff today, but they started the new year off with a victory that kept them top of the Premier League table. Despite their best efforts it took the Gunners 88 minutes to break the deadlock and they went onto grab another moments later. there are plenty of talking points from the game, but here are three things we learned from the game.

1) Arsenal deserved the three points

Naturally, the home side were expected to steamroll Cardiff and they very much did. Through the 90 minutes Arsenal had 28 shots at goal – 20 more than their opponents. They had 12 corners to Cardiff’s two, made nearly four times as many crosses and ended the game with 68% possession.

They may have left it late, but they deserved the win.

2) Cardiff need crossing practise

The Bluesbirds whipped nine crosses into the box during the game, and only one of them was met by a Cardiff player. They also had two corners, both of which were wayward.

3) Arsenal are the pass masters

The north London side controlled the game with the ball at their feet – completing 89% of their 611 attempted passes.
