THREE Arsenal Players Who Need To Pull Their Socks Up

Arsenal sit top of the Premier League right now and look to win their first piece of silverware for a number of years, so it would be hard to pick holes in their campaign, wouldn’t it? No, not in my eyes. Here are three players who I think should pull their socks up and really push to make an impact in the second part of the season.

1) Carl Jenkinson

The right-back has been very involved this season, playing in 10 of Arsenal’s 20 league games but he is yet to impress me personally. He’s put in a few strong performances but he looks as though he is slipping back into the nervous outlet that he was once renowned for.

I may be judging him on the sterling displays of the start of last year, or maybe against Bacary Sagna, but for me he needs to pull his socks up.

2) Thomas Vermaelen

The former skipper has slipped into the background at the Emirates as a result of Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny’s blistering partnership, and for me it’s a do or die type situation. He doesn’t have the power of the former nor the aerial presence of the latter, and if he doesn’t force his way into the team soon then I can smell the end.

3) Santi Cazorla

It may seem a little controversial but I would suggest that the little Spaniard needs to start picking up his form. Injuries haven’t helped, but Cazorla doesn’t look half the player that he did last season and I hope he really pushes the boat out for the turn of the year.
