Sitting on the top of the Premier League table right now, Arsenal have few things to complain about. They have put in some silky performances this season and Arsene Wenger has them playing possession football. Here are the top five performers in terms of pass completion from the players who have made more than five league appearances this season.
1) Per Mertesacker
The giant German has been sensational yet again this season. He has been the heartbeat of everything that the Gunners have done and is a huge reason why Arsenal have the best defence in the league.
Despite him being a combative player, he is also capable with the ball at his feet. So far this season he has completed 92% of his passes, the joint highest at the club.
2) Mikel Arteta
The Spaniard has been involved in 15 games this season so far and averaged four defensive actions per game, but the way he keeps the ball rolling in the middle of the pitch is what has really impressed me.
He, like Mertesacker, has completed 92% of his passes.
3) Laurent Koscielny
Like the other two, he has a 92% pass completion rate. His form has been shaky this season but his desire to win possession has helped the Gunners immensely.
4) Mathieu Flamini
A shout for bargain of the season, Flamini has glued the Arsenal midfield together this season and has too completed 92% of his passes.
5) Thomas Vermaelen
Last on the list, and another central defender, is Belgium international Vermaelen. He has seven appearances to his name this season so passes our entry test, and he has completed 91% of his passes.
