Manchester City currently sit second in the Premier League table just a point behind Arsenal, and if it wasn’t for their dodgy away form then surely they would have been placing one hand on the trophy by now. However, they are not, and here are three players who need to pull their socks up in order to make it happen.
1) Martin Demichelis
The lanky centre-back was drafted in over the summer to add some strength to the City backline. However, Over his nine games for the Citizens he has failed to impress with his rash decisions, his lack of positional sense and the way he is easily spun by opposing strikers.
He has won just nine of the 24 tackles that he has gone in for – which is a measly completion rate of 38%, and despite being a monster in stature he has won just half of his headers.
2) Joe Hart
His slack performances has been well documented over the last couple of months, but he seems to be back to first choice at the Etihad. The fact that he has kept just four clean sheets from his 13 games will be a worry though, as will his 54% punch success.
3) Dedryk Boyata
Although the Belgian has only recently come into the side, his performances have left a lot to be desired and his sending off will have enrages Manuel Pellegrini. He’s played just once in the Premier League – an hour against Crystal Palace just after Christmas, and once in the cup, but if he is to convince anyone that he has a future at the club then he needs to up his games.
