£200m Rescue Kitty: Who Should Manchester United Sign With Summer Budget?

It would take something big to save Manchester United’s season right now. It would also take a lot for David Moyes’ reputation to increase back to a respectable level. The Manchester United board seem to be sticking to their man though, to their credit, and will apparently hand the former Everton boss a huge £200m war chest to rescue his side. But with that amount of money, who should he sign?

Central midfield has to be his priority. With Michael Carrick, Darren Fletcher and Marouane Fellaini all capable of sitting in the defensive areas, I would get rid of Tom Cleverley and Anderson. I would even sell Shinji Kagawa, as he is being wasted at Old Trafford.

The first player that I would swoop for is Ander Herrera, who was supposedly a summer target for United. The little Spaniard is a playmaker who love to make things happen, threading balls through to his strikers and turning the game on its head.

Then I would look into signing Koke, the Atletico Madrid midfielder with eight assists to his name this season. Another playmaker, Koke is a sensational player to have in the middle of your team as he can both attack and defend.

I would probably bid for a player in the mould of Yohan Cabaye as well so there was plenty of depth in the middle.

With Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie leading the line, and Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez in reserve, I don’t believe they need anyone else up front.

The wings need reshuffled though in my eyes. Ashley Young doesn’t cut the mustard, Antonio Valencia has had a mixed season and Wilfried Zaha hasn’t featured. I would get rid of two of the three and look to sign Real Madrid’s Angel Di Maria to play with Adnan Januzaj on the wings.

For good measure I would sign a back up keeper to replace Anders Lindegaard and a young centre-back to replace Nemanja Vidic, who is out of contract in the summer. Perhaps Eliaquim Mangala from Porto.

I can wish, can’t I?
