As the red half of north London tried to persuade themselves that they would still be on top of the Premier League table come May after Theo Waclott was ruled out for the rest of the season, Manchester City fired a warning shot, albeit via the League Cup, battering West Ham 6-0 at the Etihad. Now, according to the Mirror, Serge Gnabry, a player who has been mooted as Walcott’s replacement in the side, could be off to Borussia Dortmund. It may come as a bit of a shock to some, but he is a fantastic player and I don’t think Arsenal should let him go.
Here’s why.
Away from Gnabry, Arsenal don’t have a natural right winger. They have players who can play in the position, like Aaron Ramsey and Tomas Rosicky, but both of those offer something completely different.
Gnabry is a rapid player who likes to make the runs in behind the defenders and stretch them out of position. Apart from Lukas Podolski on the other side of the pitch, the Gunners don’t have many players who base their game on speed, and to let him go now after a string of impressive performances would be a poor move in my eyes.
He’s still only 18 too, so there is plenty more to come from him.
